Not so silly curious questions

What makes your ghee different from regular ghee in the market?

Our ghee is made only from the milk of Gir cows that are raised with care, hand milked and allowed to graze freely. We make ghee in small batches using the traditional bilona method. Nothing is added and nothing is rushed.

Is GirSatvam ghee truly made using the traditional bilona method?

Yes. We set the milk into curd, churn it slowly to separate butter and gently heat it to make ghee. This is the same patient process followed in Indian homes for generations.

Do your cows graze freely or are they kept indoors?

Our cows spend their days in open fields, walking, grazing and resting as they wish. We believe this freedom keeps them healthy and happy, and that reflects in the milk they give.

Do you hand milk your Gir cows?

Yes, we only hand milk. No machines are used. Milking is done calmly and gently, and always after the calf has had its full share.

Why does the colour or texture of ghee change with seasons?

Cows eat different natural fodder through the year and their milk changes with weather and diet. This can slightly change the colour and grain of ghee. It is a sign of purity and nature, not inconsistency.

Why is your ghee grainy instead of smooth?

Graininess is a natural result of slow cooking and cooling. It shows that the ghee is made the traditional way without additives or high heat processing.

How can I tell if ghee is pure at home?

Pure ghee melts quickly when warm, smells like butter and holds a pleasant aroma when heated. It should not foam excessively or leave a sticky residue after heating.
